Ach du Lieber!
It's that time of year again ... Oktoberfest ... with a SLIGHT new twist.
You might notice a tiny change to the event formerly known as Oktoberfest. Introducing OktoBREWfest. Don’t be fooled. The same German traditions will still occur in Lincoln Park with some new and exciting changes. The lineup for this year will be filled with both traditional and new contemporary artists.
According to Alison Hamling, Director of Experience with the Downtown Development Authority, “It was time for a name change to match the natural evolution of the festival. The popularity of our selection of specialty brews and the addition of the VIP tasting tent are factors that went into the name change. It’s also increasingly difficult to find strictly German heritage entertainment. We will honor tradition as much as possible but will start integrating more contemporary artists.”
Local graphic designer Steven Held was commissioned to launch a new Oktobrewfest logo design for 2013. Held is from the northern Colorado area and was a prior Oktoberfest logo contest winner.
Greeley's Oktobrewfest 2013 will be September 27-28 at Lincoln Park in historic Downtown Greeley at 8th Street & 9th Avenue. Join us at the kick-off on Friday evening from 5-10PM for some great beer, brats, games, and a free concert. We will start out with the Polka Mates from Longmont, and then rock Lincoln Park with local classic rock/pop favorite, Wild Nights.
Then prepare for a full day of fun Saturday, September 28th from 11AM to 9PM. Enjoy a whole day of music, a wide variety of regular and specialty brews, food from more than a dozen vendors, a crafts area, and a huge childrens area with face painting, obstacle course, a bubble tower, arcade games, inflatable slide, WOW Bubbles and more!
Saturday's entertainment includes dancers from Studio M Dance, UNC Jazz Lab 1 Band, The Volkstanzgruppe German Dancers, The Kyle Redman Polka Band, Randy Eckhart and the Dutch Hop Makers, and ending up with rockin' blues and funk including a full horn section by Greeley's new sensation on the music scene ...The Burroughs.
Compete in Volleyball, pie eating contests, stein lifting contests, life-size beer pong and more. Shop the craft area, peruse the delicious food selections and enjoy the music.
