FIRST FRIDAY: A NIGHT OF ART!!- THIS FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3RD, 2012
Don't let a little snowstorm stop you from enjoying some fabulous art during First Friday!. - But maybe you should call first if it's really bad out. If you can't get out Friday - you have the whole rest of the month to take it in.
Bean Plant Studio (701 7th Street) The Bean Plant Studio will be hosting photographs and fibers by Susan Smallwood Herold "Familial Love and Happy Accidents." Also featuring Elizabeth McGee's "One-of-a-Kind" Handmade Greeting Cards, 6-8pm.
Cafe Panache (821 10th Street) Café Panache will not only be featuring new artists for the month of February this First Friday evening, but will also be hosting Donavan & Friends who will be playing their original jazz live, 7pm
Chalice Arts (929 15th Street) "Unveiled" This season, V-Day Greeley is excited to be hosting a charity art show! For February's First Friday, Chalice Arts will be showcasing donated artwork that fits the theme of sexual liberation/ feminine empowerment. All of the money raised from the art show will help V-Day Greeley cover the cost/ expenditures of producing "The Vagina Monologues," which support Sexual Assault Victim Advocates. Art may contain adult content. Refreshments provided by Cocoa Camellia and Chalice Arts. The silent auction exhibit continues through Feb 26th during several V-Day events. This event is from 5-8pm.
The Clay Center (1024 6th Avenue) Gallery offers pottery demonstrations & classes
The Crvsh Room (915 16th Street) Opening reception for the photography of Joe Lee Parker Feb 3rd 6-9 with free appetizers and drink specials
Doug's Hang Up (817 9th Street) Doug's Hang Up will be featuring a new photography exhibit with two talented photographers, Brice Harbert and Ron Sweetin. Open until 8pm.
The Dragon's Cache (1109 7th Street) First Friday at The Dragon's Cache presents "Hearts and Roses for Your Valentine," featuring flame-worked hearts and roses by Jeffrey Becker, beads and watercolors by Francis Denning, and stained glass by Nellie Denning. The First Friday Reception will be from 5-8pm, but the show will be open through February. The Eden Gallery (800 8th Ave, Suite 317) First Friday at The Eden Gallery includes a night of art! Sandra Faust, our resident instructor, will be demonstrating painting techniques from 5-7 pm! Stop by for free refreshments; try hands-on brush techniques; and create a small painting to take home to your Valentine! For details call 970-356-7100
Greeley Freight Station Museum (680 10th Street) See over 2,000 cars and150 locomotives
The Greeley History Museum (714 8Th Street) The Greeley History Museum will be hosting Dr. Scott A Corliss, amateur astronomer, speaking about Astronomy and Telescopes in Weld County. He will cover everything from identifying constellations and planets with the naked eye, to best locations in Weld County for stargazing and how to use a telescope will be covered in this fascinating First Friday lecture. This First Friday Event will take place in the Museum's Community Room from 6-7:30pm.
Madison and Main Gallery(927 16th Street) Madison and Main Gallery will continue hosting the "2nd Annual Collegiate Show" featuring 10 student artists from Aims and UNC. The artists are: Matthew Anderson, Angela Colvin, Tyler Danielson, Kaitlyn Jackson, David Norwood, Rachel Peevler, Roberto Cristoval Roma, Shantell Sallee, Kellie Sapp, and Steffanie Sperry. There will be an artist demonstration on5-8 p.m. All items in the gallery are for sale.
Margie's Java Joint (931 16th Street) "52 Weeks of Free Art" - Artist Crystal Despain
Showcase Arts Center (1335 8th Avenue) The 7th Annual "Art from the Heart" Show will have its opening reception from 5-7 PM at the Showcase Art Center. There are over 40 artists entered in the show, and the show will be juried by Lani Vlanderen.
Tointon Gallery (651 10th Avenue) The show "Colorado Impressions" continues showing featuring the oil paintings of Colorado Impressionist Carl Bork
Zoe's Cafe (715 10th St) Local Artist Betony Coons will have art displayed at Zoe's through the month of February. A sample of her work is the background for our e-newsletter header this week!
Persian Music Ensemble @ Syntax Distillery - Feb 3
For a jamming First Friday, visit Syntax Distilled Spirits for the debut of The Persian Music Ensemble at from 7-10pm. They are Northern Colorado's leading, local Persian/Middle Eastern music ensemble with Western influences, and its members are based right here in Greeley. They'll be joined by members of the Belly Gras Belly Dancers! Persian Music and Belly dancing ... You won't know you're on this continent!

Paul Beveridge & Company @ Zoe's - Feb 3
Help "kickstart" the release of Paul Beveridge & Company's new EP to be released March 2nd. To raise money they'll be playing at Zoe's Cafe Friday, Feb 3rd at 7pm. The show is $5 to get in and you'll get $1 off any specialty drink coupon. Other acts include Lybecker, Josiah James, Ruby Manoles and Hannah Pratt. An entire night of fantastic music for a great price!

Tavola Modern Italian Restaurant - Feb 3
Tavola hosts a wine tasting extraordinaire at 6pm, featuring wine from the southern tip of Italy and the menu is as follows: Caprese Salad - heirloom tomatoes and homemade mozzarella salad; Roman Chickpea soup - Traditional soup with chickpeas and fresh vegetables; Gnocchi with clams and porcini mushrooms; Mostaccioli - Italian spiced cookies There will be four delicious wines that will accompany the menu and our wine expert will be on hand to guide you through this culinary journey of Italy. University Symphony Orchestra @ UCCC - Feb 6
The UNC Symphony Orchestra is a 100-member ensemble which rehearses Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the academic year and performs two major concerts each semester.
Greeley Winter Farmer's Market @ Atlas - Feb 4
