Greeley’s 33rd Annual Spring Clean-Up
Weekend Friday, April 25: 7am-5pm Saturday, April 26: 7am-5pm Sunday, April 27: 7am-3pm Greeley’s 33rd annual Spring Clean-up Weekend – for Greeley residents only – is scheduled for Friday, April 25; Saturday, April 26; and Sunday, April 27. Greeley residents are invited to bring their spring clean-up debris to three locations from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday - rain, snow or shine. A fourth site has been added for a new “mower exchange” program. Residents may need to visit all four sites depending on the items they have for disposal, recycling or exchange. Participants must provide proof of Greeley residency (i.e. driver’s license, utility bill). No commercial dumping is allowed and all loads of loose materials must be secured with a tarp. Site #1 – Clean-up Site: Clean up your garage, basement, alley, etc., and bring the debris to the drop site at 11th Avenue, north of the Poudre River (enter off of H Street). You can also recycle the following separated materials at this site: glass, aluminum, tin, cardboard, newspaper, plastics #1 and #2, scrap iron, paper, metal, old appliances and vehicle tires up to 17" in diameter. A total of 8 tires may be included in regular loads per day with no additional fees; however, there will be an additional $1 fee per tire over that limit. Tires over 17" will not be accepted. Freon will be safely removed from all refrigeration appliances free of charge. The fee for cars; trucks with less than one-ton capacity; and single axle trailers is $7 per load. For trailers with more than one axle and one ton trucks and larger, a $20 coupon must be purchased and the load must be taken to the North Weld Landfill (Hwy 14 & WCR 25). The only exception is if these larger, non-commercial vehicles are hauling only chippable wood, tree limbs, leaves, and acceptable organics – these can be brought to the Green-Cycle Center (see Site #2). Coupons are available at the City’s Finance Department located at City Hall, 1000 10th Street, until 5 p.m. on April 25 or at the 11th Avenue site during Clean-up Weekend. Coupons allow direct admission to the landfill for these larger vehicles and trailers. A limited quantity of free mulch will be available for Greeley residents beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday (not available for commercial use). All mulch loads leaving the site must be secured with a tarp. Site #2 – Greeley Green-Cycle Center: This is the drop site for yard waste such as branches, leaves, grass and clean wood (no paint, stain, etc). Loads contaminated with treated wood, concrete, metal and other items will be sent to Site #1. Site #2 is located off of east 8th Street, approximately one mile east of U.S. 85 on the south side of 8th Street. The fee for cars, trucks with less than one-ton capacity, and single axle trailers is $7 per load. Trailers with more than one axle and one-ton trucks and larger will be charged $20 at the site (no coupon needed). The Green-Cycle Center is open during Clean-up Weekend the same hours as Site #1. In addition, the Green-Cycle Center is open year-round: Summer hours begin April 5th, Tuesday - Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Site #3 – Household Hazardous Waste Collection Site: Household hazardous waste will be accepted at 1311 North 17th Avenue, approximately 2 blocks north of Site #1. No charge to recycle used motor oil, batteries, antifreeze, paint, pesticides, etc. The Drop and Swap Program will be closed and no business waste will be accepted during this time. Schaffer Enterprises will be set up in the parking lot, at this site, to accept computers and other electronics for a recycling fee. This site will be open during Clean-up Weekend the same days and hours as sites #1&2. Site #4 – Lawn Mower Exchange - Friday & Saturday Only: Exchange your gas mower for a significant discount on an electric mower at the Historic Union Pacific Depot located at 902 7th Avenue. Please drain fuel from old mowers before bringing them to the site.
